Paul first started out in 1973 playing clarinet at the age of 10, moving on to the saxophone when he was age 12. He had the best tuition from Leonard Foster – clarinet (Halle Orchestra) and much later with Peter King – alto saxophone (regarded as one of the finest jazz saxophonists in the world today). This tuition and discipline of both the classical and jazz styles, has given him the widest opportunity over the years to express his musicianship to a wider audience.
Paul turned professional at 19 and was a member of "The Beale St Blues Band" a very successful North West blues band for several years enjoying success in a host of clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe. Over the last 25 years or so, he has had the pleasure of performing and working with Mojo Bufford (Muddy Waters Band), Peter King, Lou Donaldson (legendary American jazz saxophonist), Bill Perkins (ex Stan Kenton Orchestra), Johnny Dankworth, Jools Holland to name just a few. He has played in funk, soul bands and work for BBC Radio, ITV and still continues to play in several jazz groups.
Since 2006, Paul has specialised in saxophone performance for weddings, parties and corporate events all over the UK, and his professional attitude and dynamic performance have helped earn him an impressive client base so far - including the Radisson Hotel Group, Phones4U, Jaguar Group, Hilton Hotel, LFC Anfield and Aintree Racecourse and many others.
